Needs Beyond Scope of Care Policy

Nolan's Nest Daycare is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for all children enrolled in our program. Because we are a small childcare setting with limited staff and resources, there may be situations where a child’s needs exceed what we are able to safely provide within our program.

Individual Assessment

Each child enrolled at Nolan's Nest Daycare is evaluated on an individual basis to ensure that our environment, staffing levels, and caregiver training allow us to appropriately meet the child’s needs while maintaining a safe and positive experience for all children.

Needs Beyond the Program’s Scope

In some cases, a child may require specialized support, supervision, medical care, or behavioral services that our staff is not currently trained or equipped to provide. Examples may include, but are not limited to:

  • Medical care or procedures requiring specialized training

  • Ongoing one-on-one supervision beyond normal daycare ratios

  • Therapeutic or behavioral intervention services

  • Needs that significantly disrupt the safety or learning environment for other children

Nolan's Nest Daycare does not currently provide specialized therapeutic, behavioral, or medical support services.

Communication with Families

If concerns arise indicating that a child’s needs may exceed the scope of care our program can safely provide, Nolan's Nest Daycare will communicate with the child’s parents or guardians to discuss observations and potential next steps.

Whenever possible, we will work collaboratively with families to explore strategies that may help the child succeed within the daycare environment.

Determination of Continued Care

If it is determined that Nolan's Nest Daycare cannot safely or appropriately meet the child’s needs with our current staffing, training, and resources, the program reserves the right to:

  • Modify the child’s care arrangement

  • Request additional support or accommodations when appropriate

  • Recommend that the family seek a program with specialized services

  • Discontinue care in accordance with our Termination of Care Policy

Our priority is always the safety, well-being, and developmental success of every child enrolled, as well as maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all children and staff at Nolan's Nest Daycare.
